Additional Support
The Assessment and Support Team is part of the Student Support service area. We assess, co-ordinate and monitor additional support needs for students with various additional support needs including physical disabilities, sensory impairments, learning difficulties, mental health difficulties, autistic spectrum conditions, medical conditions and Specific Learning Difficulties e.g. Dyslexia.
Additional Support could include the following:
- Extra support in individual or small group sessions with a specialist support tutor or subject tutor
- In-class support from Student Support Assistants
- Communicators
- Specialist equipment / resources
- Exam concessions
- Pastoral / mentoring support
- Personal care
- Assistance at break/mealtimes
- Regular monitoring and reviews
If you feel that you may need support when you come to college, we encourage you to let us know as early as possible. This will help us to identify any learning support needs in time for the start of your course. You can let us know by:
- Completing the Learning Support Section on the Student Application Form
- Contacting the Assessment and Support Team on 0121 477 1750
- Informing the tutor or Choice & Admissions staff at a Choice & Admissions event
When you come to enrol on your course you can let us know by:
- Giving information on your Enrolment Form
- Informing the tutor
- Asking to speak to a member of the Assessment and Support Team
