Music courses are delivered at Bournville College and the Academy of Music and Sound.
You can study Music Technology and Studio & Live Music Production techniques at BTEC National Diploma level and performance skills at BTEC First Diploma Level. The Academy allows you to study Music Practice/Performance skills at National Diploma Level.
The resources provided are professional and up to date, reflecting those used in the modern music industry, including recording studios and programming/MIDI suites.
Our staff have a wealth of experience in the industry. Students get involved in field trips, master classes, recording sessions, concerts, instrument maintenance classes and many more.
Academy of Music and Sound
The Academy of Music and Sound have been working in partnership with Bournville College since 2004 offering BTEC Level 3 Music Performance courses for school leavers.
The Academy is a specialist contemporary music college with 9 centres nationwide, Birmingham being the flagship centre with a 6,000 sq ft facility offering dedicated teaching rooms for guitar, bass, drums and vocals, as well as a fully equipped livestage and studio and a Mac suite for ProTools tuition.
Academy students tend to progress into careers as music teachers, session musicians, songwriters, performing musicians and sound engineers. The BTEC Extended Diploma 2-year course is open to dedicated musicians over the age of 16 who can demonstrate ability as a guitarist, bassist, vocalist or drummer at audition, and have met/will be meeting the minimum academic entry requirement of 4 x GCSEs at C and above, including English.
