Student Support
As an international student at Bournville College, you can expect close and personal support from a team of dedicated staff. We aim to provide you with a memorable and positive experience of living in the UK.
International Office
Our friendly and efficient team at the International Office will be your first port of call. They will deal with your application from the beginning and can offer advice along the way. They can offer a ‘meet and greet’ service when you first arrive in the country, help you with finding accommodation and settling in Birmingham. The team will also be there to help and advise you throughout the course and point you in the right direction.
Personal Tutor
Every student is allocated a Personal Tutor who is responsible for providing support and reviewing progress at regular intervals.
English Language Support
We can provide specific support for students which is tailored to their course and English language needs. This can be flexible, to fit in with the main timetable and we can also provide additional in-class support for students as required.
Additional Learning Support
The Assessment and Support Team assess, co-ordinate and monitor additional support needs for students with various additional support needs including physical disabilities, sensory impairments, learning difficulties, mental health difficulties, autistic spectrum conditions, medical conditions and Specific Learning Difficulties e.g. Dyslexia. Counselling Service
The private and confidential Counselling Service can be used to talk about any situation that is causing emotional or psychological difficulty.
Welfare Service
Welfare Advisers have access to a range of information and can offer advice on a broad range of welfare matters.
Careers Service
The College has its own Careers Advisory Service staffed by qualified and experienced careers advisers. They can help you with the decisions you are making about higher education, employment and careers. Click here for more information.
Student Activities Team
The Student Activities team organise a broad range of activities for students at the College, including table tennis, badminton, basketball, football, chess, pool, film club and regular trips to various attractions including theme parks, football games, shows and more.
In addition, the International Office organise a variety of cultural visits, trips and activities for international students, which you can take part in throughout your stay on the course.
