BOURNVILLE COLLEGE IN THE MIDDLE EAST

A delegation from Bournville College attended the Building Schools Exhibition and Conference in Abu Dhabi earlier this week to promote the new build project in Longbridge, planned for 2011.Salim

The Exhibition, which was inaugurated by HH Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Nahyan, attracted schools, colleges and investors from across the world to learn about a full spectrum of issues when building schools for the future, including construction, design, facilities, technology and more. Bournville’s delegation joined Broadway Malyan representatives, the international architect firm which designed Bournville College’s new build, who were exhibiting at the event.

At the conference, Bournville College’s new build model attracted a lot of attention from visitors as Abu Dhabi Education Council chose the event to announce its plans to build 300 schools in the next ten years.

Our new build model was one of the most popular attractions at the event, because it gave visitors an insight into what the future holds for a UK college. They were impressed by the design and the size of the building, which was very flattering, given that in the Middle East they build everything on such a grand scale.’ Alma Aganovic, Assistant Principal for Marketing and Business Planning at Bournville College commented.  Mark Palmer, Assistant Principal for Business Development, added: ‘Many delegates were pleased to talk to a further education college from the UK as they were about to go through a similar process and were interested in our experiences.’
