The scheme allows our staff to achieve an NVQ, key skills and a technical certificate, all suitable to their job role. The training is delivered through a mixture of college attendance and on-the-job training. We have worked with the College for four years and the partnership is working well for us.’
Colin Crowdy, Finance Manager
Business / Personal Improvement:
‘I came to Harris Lamb straight from school as an Office Junior. My Apprenticeship in
Administration allowed me to get qualifications for the job that I was doing. I have
since progressed to do an Advanced Apprenticeship, which will see me get more
qualifications, this time at Level 3. My assessor is very nice and easy to get
on with. I enjoy working for Harris Lamb and doing an Apprenticeship has allowed me
to work while being trained which is great.’

‘I started at Harris Lamb four years ago on an Apprenticeship programme as an Office Junior. It was my first job and the training helped me a lot with my learning. It was good to get a mixture of on-the-job and classroom training. After I finished my Apprenticeship I was promoted to a Finance Assistant, doing purchase ledger and accounts, which I really enjoy. I then went back to Bournville College to complete my AAT Foundation and Intermediate qualifications.'

and it reiterates all customer service principles that you should be aware of. Millicent
Clarke, my assessor, was absolutely brilliant, she was always there for me. I would
definitely recommend both the course and the assessor!’

‘I started my career in the leisure industry straight after leaving university, where I did
a degree in Video Production. I chose to do my NVQ in Management because I didn’t have any qualifications relevant to my job. I’m enjoying the course and I’m learning a lot about staffing issues, motivation and other areas of management which are important in my job. I would recommend this course to anyone in a similar job role.’
