What do you think of global warming? Science or Fiction
Wednesday, July 01, 2009 by mtt admin
Global warming is a subject that splits opinion. Just a quick look at the top 10 Digg articles on the subject shows stories claiming it to be the worst thing ever, a government conspiracy, a natural heat cycle and sustainable as it increases the growth rate of plants and algae.
What do you think? None of us are geologists here (unless you are one) so give us your honest opinion, safe in the knowledge that no one else knows any better. Do you think it is going to destroy the planet, or is it just scare mongering, or will nature adapt?

The only fact is CO2 in the atmosphere has gone up because of power stations, emissions etc. Everything else is educated conjecture. Temperatures have risen on this scale in the past due to natural causes and disasters of all kinds have blighted the course of animal life over the millions of years the earth has existed.
To put my hat in, I think the science stands up. I think we should do all we can to keep the temperature stable, although I think we are limited to how much we can help.
But as a hard and fast Darwinist, I feel global warming is another hurdle for nature to jump, like the ice age, meteors etc. Natural selection will ensure animals will live on and start a new chapter in intelligent life on earth.
Sure we have a bit more control over this one, but we are our nature and our actions are dictated by nature. We are out of the animal kingdom and have used our superior intellect to conquer nature to some extent, but we are still flesh and blood and we are still driven by desires hard wired over millions of years of natural selection.
We are nature and human created global warming is just as natural as a meteorite in my book. Maybe I’m wrong, I probably am, I usually am, but I love hearing opinion debate, so please get in touch.

Climate change is real, but is it driven by 'man made co2'? I don't think so. t he biggest green house gas is water vapour. if you want to know what drives our climate, look up in the sky on a sunny day...there is the answer!

That's an interesting point, i haven't heard the theory behind that, sorry to be a pain but could you share more about that theory please.
Thanks for commenting.

Gosh I am feeling Hot hot hot hot is it meeeee or is it this article Mr Blogger ..lol !!!!!
What a topic to discuss on a hot and bright day like this., yet I am sure no one complaining, its about time the British weather changed even though it just might be down to global warming! I am sure the others reading this blog will agree??? Do you???? Or ... perhaps everyone busy getting a tan before the weather changes!!! Yet the effects of global warming in other countries may well tell a difference story…famine.
I am no Scientist nor Geologist or even a member of the Green party! Yet I believe that everything that lives will self destruct within its own time accordingly… naturally or forced by other contributing factors to self destruct…when??? Gosh I don’t know perhaps I need to get myself a crystal ball to predict this!
There is a lot of scientific evidence available that points in the direction of the effects of global warming, and certainly its predications and if it wasn’t true perhaps the government themselves would not be incorporating such measures seriously in their policies world wide …in reducing pollution, HIP – energy efficient homes, world aid famine ..etc etc and the green party wouldn’t have existed either ..so I think it is true!
I do believe that there are some elements of global warming we all have no control of like combating that tornado that keeps on coming back for more in the UK... …and screaming at us all to stop polluting the planet!!! Yet, if you view things on a wider scale the fact is the planet we live on is our home its not like we can all move to Mars if things get too hot to handle…and we all have a duty to maintain that home…every little counts…and you will be surprised how much money you can save by energy efficiency lighting !!!! and how fit you can become by walking by going green slowly…
I realise this even more last year when I participated in the Marathon in Birmingham, the race against climate change, I was amazed with the turnout, apparently there were almost 9,000 entries…supporting this cause on behalf of various charities I guess 9,000 people can’t be wrong either. Well done to all those that completed the race! Including the 60 year old grandma that came last….and will be joining us again this year!
The EDF Energy Marathon is back, so why not participate? make a change to the climate!!!!!
Its on Sunday 10th October 2009 ... Read more
