Communication and Culture: How does music affect you?

Communication and culture is a hard subject to nail down; in short it is an investigative look at how media outlets, and other forms of communication, can affect our culture and individuals.
An example could be how women are represented in magazines and how that affects the mindset of young women feeling under pressure to copy those women.
This page is a personal favourite it presents the idea of exploring songs that changed your life.
Music has a profound effect on group identity and us as individuals; it helps define who we are, how we dress, even down to how we walk. It brings together people of different cultures and backgrounds, all united by the love of a couple instruments rising and falling in pitch and timbre (sounds a bit strange when you put it like that).
Sometimes lyrics open old scars, ignite old memories, scratch an indefinable itch, tell you something about your life, and make you laugh; the list is endless and very few people fail to be tempted by music’s charm. It is something that resonates with our being and helps us come to terms with the more abstract and indefinable aspects of life.

So why does it have this effect? Why do more people enjoy certain types of music? Why does music affect how we dress? Why do we go off certain music? Is there any power in it at all?
These are all questions for you to think on and ponder, whether for your own amusement, or you already study communication and culture or whether you’re trying to find a respected platform to voice your opinions.
I have found a great website that gives great advice on revision, topic ideas, and general advice in what can be a confusing subject.
Send me any thoughts or download course leaflet on other enjoyable topics to study within communication and culture.
