Painting and Drawing Course at Bournville College

Duration

The Painting and Drawing Course runs for 8 weeks (2 hour sessions)

Introduction

During the Painting and Drawing course you will use a wide range of materials and techniques to develop and refine your creative techniques. This will include charcoal, pen and ink, pastels and painting (Acrylic and Watercolour). Throughout the course the class will include developing professional drawing skills through the use of primary sources e.g. life drawing.

There will be critiques, practical demonstrations and question and answer sessions throughout the course. The aim of this course is to develop your artistic abilities.

Painting and Drawing is taught from our Longbridge campus, which is ideally located with transport routes from Birmingham, Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, Warwick and other surrounding areas.

The Painting and Drawing Course consists of:
  • Primary source drawing
  • Life drawing
  • Composition
  • Visual language
  • Critiques/discussion of work
  • Question and answers

Teaching Methods

A variety of methods and materials will be used. There will be practical experience and workshop activities. These will be supported by tutor demonstrations, handouts and materials.

The tuition for this course will be delivered by a college lecturer that has gained both a Degree and Masters Degree in Fine Art and Photography. The tutor has the acquired knowledge and expertise from professional practise in the field of both Fine Art and Photography. Also current work as a working artist will help aid the course delivery and provide the learner with practical hands on skills.

Assessment

There is no formal assessment.

Qualification Gained

On successful completion you will receive a college certificate of attendance.

A keen interest and desire to improve your artistic skills. Some Knowledge and basic artistic skills.
