IT Skills Workshop OCR ITQ Award at Level 1 or Level 2

Duration

IT Skills Workshop OCR ITQ Award is a part time course of 2 hours per week for 32 weeks. Classes are held in the evening only.

Introduction

IT Skills Workshop OCR ITQ Award provides an excellent introduction to using a computer and working with some popular computer applications.  It removes people’s fear of computers and provides basic IT skills as well as higher skills for those who have already achieved a Level 1 ITQ.

IT Skills Workshop OCR ITQ Award is taught at our campus in Longbridge, Birmingham.

Content

Students will be able to work at their own pace through three units of ITQ.   For level 1 you will need 9 credits, but for Level 2 you will need 10 for an Award. 

The units offered are:

  • Database software
  • Desktop publishing software
  • Using email
  • Using the Internet
  • Presentation software
  • Spreadsheet software
  • Word processing software

Teaching Methods

A variety of methods and materials will be used, with an emphasis on practical experience in workshop activities, which are supported by manuals and materials specially prepared by the college.

Assessment

Each unit is individually assessed and certified.  Assessments are taken when the client has reached the required standard.  The assessments are marked by the tutor and externally moderated by OCR.

Qualification Gained

OCR ITQ Award Level 1 or 2

Opportunities for Progression

Students can progress to a Level 2 ITQ or onto another business or IT course. 

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, other than basic literacy.  However, students must be capable of working independently using written learning materials.  All potential students will be required to undertake a short literacy assessment.
