Varine Kelly
Before Bournville: Varine tried to train for a range of careers including accounting and IT but she couldn’t find passion it any of these professions. She always had a flair for African hair braiding and after years of practice on her family members she decided to qualify as a hairdresser and finally enjoy a career which evolved from a life-long hobby.
At Bournville: NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Hairdressing, A1 Assessors Award, Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTTLS), Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTTLS)
After Bournville: Varine would like to complete the Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTTLS) and gain a full QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills) status.
Quote: I would definitely recommend Bournville College to others. If you’re enthusiastic about your goal, Bournville has all the right support packages to take you all the way and push you in the right direction. The hairdressing NVQs taught me all there’s to know about European hairdressing. This, in combination with my knowledge of African hair braiding, makes the perfect match. My teaching career is now taking off and I can finally see myself doing the job I love.
