The Sports Department at Bournville College came together to run a variety of sporting events to raise money for Sport Relief. Events included tug of war, penalty shoot-out, table tennis, a three throw competition and a survival of the fittest event, which took place in Urban Fitness. Staff and students were invited along to the activities and by donating they could compete to win one of several prizes donated by the college.
Several staff members assisted during the day but many students were the ones timing, scoring, collecting money and running the activities. They were enthusiastic and eager to help raise money for such a good cause.
Scott Thomas, Lecturer in Sport who led a team of students said: ”Sport Relief 2012 was a fantastic day for both students and staff. The college collectively raised over £600 and we had a great interest of participants from all areas of the college. Thanks to everyone who contributed. Without you this event wouldn’t have been such a success!”
Bournville College is also running various Sports Camps during the Easter break, where monies raised will be added to the total already raised for the charity. Sports Camps with the focus on basketball, netball and badminton and are for students currently in years 10 and 11. For more information email Jo Insley.
