Bournville College builds on its relationship with the Birmingham Press Club

John-Lamb-and-Norman-Cave

Bournville College, whose spectacular new flagship campus dominates the site of the former MG Rover car works at Longbridge, has strengthened its links with Birmingham Press Club.

Press Club Chairman John Lamb (left) is seen here with College Principal Norman Cave after agreeing a sponsorship package that secures the educational establishment as the Press Club’s main supporter for 2012.

As part of the deal, the College will sponsor a number of events hosted by the Club. As part of its overall sponsorship, the College will sponsor the Journalist of the Year category at the Midlands Media Awards being held on March 15.

The College will be able to showcase facilities at its £66 million campus when it hosts a Meet the Media event later in the year, where senior members of the city’s business community get the chance to meet, in a relaxed atmosphere, with journalists from the region’s radio, television, newspapers and magazines.

John Lamb said: “We are keen to further develop our links with the education sector and by renewing its ties with the Press Club, Bournville College is demonstrating its commitment to the future of the media and media students.”

Norman Cave commented: “We are pleased to continue our association with Birmingham Press Club, which will have a positive impact on our courses in media and related areas, thereby strengthening students’ experience at Bournville.”

Bournville College which can cater for up to 15,000 students, is a community college offering a wide range of courses for school leavers, adults, employers and international students. Its landmark campus opened last October, providing some of the best state-of-the-art learning facilities in the UK. The campus is part of a £1 billion redevelopment of the former MG works. When the redevelopment plan for Longbridge is finally complete, the College will be positioned at the heart of a new “town centre” featuring retail and leisure, residential accommodation, a hotel, supermarket and other facilities.
