Hundreds of future students got a first look inside Bournville College’s new campus on 30th August, as the £66 million campus in Longbridge opened its doors to the public for the first time.

Seventeen year old, Juned Ahmed, from Ward End, was the first student to enrol on a course this academic year. ‘I chose Bournville after hearing that it’s one of the top colleges in the area. I think the new campus is really nice and I can’t wait to do my course’ he said.

Bournville’s new campus features state-of-the-art facilities, including a learning resource centre equipped with over 300 computers, hair and beauty salons, restaurant, fitness suite and sports hall, construction and motor vehicle workshops, TV and media studios, conference centre and more. Students, who will study subjects ranging from art and design to science, will benefit from the most high-tech facilities in the country, including free wi-fi access throughout the building.

Norman Cave, Principal and Chief Executive, said: ‘Everyone is really amazed when they walk through the doors, it’s great to see their reaction. We are very proud of our new campus – it really is a stunning facility and one that we hope will inspire all our students, young ones and those young at heart, to achieve their dreams and ambitions’.

The building has been built with local community in mind and many facilities will be open to the general public.

Our fantastic fitness centre, Urban Fitness, will open later this month along with our hair and beauty salons and the restaurant. All these units will offer a realistic working environment for our students whilst at the same time providing services to the local residents and businesses that we hope they take full advantage of.’ Norman added.

To enrol on a course at Bournville College, pop in between 9:30am – 8pm Mon – Thur, Fridays until 4pm. If you are not interested in enrolling but would like to have a look around the new campus anyway, the College will be holding a public open day on 1st October (10am-1pm).
