Joanna Ransome-Wallis has secured a new post in London supporting the 2012 Olympic Transport initiative, following her achievements on the Chartered Management Institute’s (CMI) Diploma in Programme and Project Management at Bournville College.
Joanna (32) originally from Acocks Green was promoted at Serco – a company recently voted Britain’s second most admired company, just one month after completing the qualification accredited by the CMI. She’s working on the Olympics Transport Co-ordination project based at Transport for London, developing the processes, people and technology requirements for the London Olympics Transport Co-ordination Centre. She said: ‘My qualification has been invaluable in securing my recent promotion from project administrator to assistant project manager. It also enables me to practically apply what I had learnt to improve the techniques and methods we are using.’
Studying the Diploma in Programme and Project Management wasn’t Joanna’s first experience of Bournville College. Having attended Bournville in the past to study A-Levels, Joanna had no hesitation in coming back in 2009 to study the Diploma in Project and Programme Management. ‘I had studied my A levels at Bournville College previously and therefore knew that the standard of teaching would be high. On the Diploma in Programme and Project Management I particularly enjoyed a combination of interactive tutorials, lectures, discussions, case studies and work-based coursework; the lessons were always very engaging’, she reflected.
In the years to come, Joanna’s ambition is to further develop her career and continue to thrive and move forward within the workplace. ‘The programme and project management course at Bournville College enabled me to continue my career towards becoming a project manager and expand my knowledge about different aspects of project management’, she added.
