Bournville College has been awarded Fairtrade College Status, acknowledging the College’s commitment to providing and promoting Fairtrade products to its students and staff.
The College was congratulated by Fairtrade Foundation on developing a wide range of Fairtrade products now available for purchase on the College’s premises. To raise awareness among students, Bournville also incorporated Fairtrade into a range of curriculum activities where a number of students participated in lessons, assignments or tutorials dedicated to this topic.
Fairtrade representatives commented: ‘We are delighted to award Bournville College with official Fairtrade College Status. Thank you for all your hard work and commitment to Fairtrade.’
Dean Davies from Northfield, studying BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business reflected: ‘I really enjoyed learning about Fairtrade as part of my course and I’m pleased that my college is part of this initiative.’
Alma Aganovic, Assistant Principal – Marketing and Business Planning, who also chairs the Fairtrade Steering Group at Bournville College reflected: ‘We are a community college with a strong focus on corporate social responsibility. This initiative, raised by students and staff, is another example of the College’s commitment to its environment.
